The invention relates to a substructure for an offshore oil and gas platform designed for use in shallow water, up to 90m depth. The design is such that all welding work required during installation can he carried out above the waterline. The design utilizes a tripod base structure formed by a Caisson (50) and two piles (100) with the use of a Sleeve Guide (60) especially to ensure correct orientation during installation, thus minimizing the amount of steel required as well as reducing installation costs as compared to traditional offshore platform designs.
