Objektif

The fund was created to strengthen industry involvement in research as a strategic partner of researchers from the University and Polytechnic.

Jumlah Pembiayaan

RM 500,000.00

Kaedah Tuntutan

The maximum investigation period is 18 months after the Memorandum of Understanding (MoA) was signed. The Project Leader is responsible for ensuring that the MoA is obtained within three (3) months of the decision being notified by the Ministry.

Kelayakan

Project Leader:

  • Full-time academic staff (Professor, etc.) at a public university (excluding research universities)
  • Must have a Master’s degree (any nationality)
  • Must appoint a Malaysian co-researcher with relevant expertise

Team:

  • Joint Investigators from research universities and private institutions allowed
  • Collaboration with polytechnic staff encouraged (Co-Project Leader or Joint Researcher)

 

Research Focus:

  • NOT fundamental research
  • Must address an industry problem or improve product/process/system

Industry Partner:

  • Local or international company required
  • Letter of Intent (LOI) with project details and funding commitment needed
  • Industry must contribute at least 10% of the grant value within 3 months of offer
  • Remaining industry contribution to follow agreed payment schedule

Ethics Approval:

  • Required for relevant projects (details with first progress report)

Skop Pembiayaan

  • Personnel: Investigator Assistant salary (RM3,500-RM5,000/month)
  • Travel & Transportation: Up to 15% of total grant
  • Rental: Buildings, equipment, etc. directly related to research (justification & price required)
  • Supplies & Research Materials: Research-related expenses only (justification & price required)
  • Minor Repairs & Modifications: Buildings, labs, equipment (justification & price required) Existing equipment maintenance during project is covered, but not after completion.
    • Short-term courses for specialized research techniques (max 1 month) are allowed.
    • Filing intellectual property costs are covered (must match project output).
    • Payments to industry professionals involved in the project are NOT allowed.
  • Other Services: Printing, hospitality, professional fees, data processing, etc. (justification & quote required) 
  • Equipment & Accessories: Special equipment directly related to research projects (justification & price required)
  • Ownership and placement require agreement between university and industry.
  • Equipment & accessory purchases cannot exceed 40% of total grant.
